Three Naturally Inspiring Artists

A couple months ago I asked Bonny Katzman of BK Design to be a guest blogger. I should have known...ask a creative person for a few words about what inspires them and get back a novel! She gave me so many fantastic ideas that I'm savoring them by sprinkling them throughout my blogs this year year. Bonny's first guest post was about graffiti and how there is still so much new about it. Re-freshing. Isn't that what we do every day? And really there is no better inspiration to refresh us than nature. The world around us changes every day and we change with it. Here are three very refreshing ideas from Bonny or your pleasure!

NATURALLY INSPIRED!
By Bonny Katzman

There is nothing new about stealing ideas from nature. But combining them with new materials and clever ideas can create winning results. Take the modular seating below that looks like floating islands.

Gathering Moss
The Koh seating system by designer Eyal Soodai is this year's winner of TIFF (Thailand International Furniture Fair). It's a modular seating system designed for use in public areas and can be customized in material and color. It can be moved, or remain fixed. Either way, the pieces encourage dynamic interaction among visitors while offering organizations a flexible way to furnish various spaces. The word ‘koh’ in Thai means "island," perfect for the way the seating scheme appears as an archipelago when seen from above.

Sand Storm
Andres Amador is a San Francisco artist who makes awe-inspiring, large-scale eco-paintings in the sand. His beautiful designs range from organic, nature-inspired patterns to geometric, angular shapes, to spiritual symbols like the Celtic knot. Check out his web site to see time-elapsed videos of him creating these beautiful designs. Inspiring!

 A SWEET ENDING
Marieke van der Bruggen’s Garden of Delight tree branches made of colored glucose are just magical.

I think you will agree with me -- these are three artists who just naturally inspire us!
