When it was done, my thoughts and energy turned towards the season -- to getting ready to spending time with family and friends and to setting my intentions for 2010.
That's right, intentions ... but more about those in a moment. First, check out this event...maybe it will put you in the holiday spirit, just in case you also needed that last little push!
The event was at The Sunset Towers, in the Terrace Room. Gorgeous. A great place for an event. I had to sign a confidentiality agreement, but I can tell you that the event was a "who's who" of Hollywood!
First, we removed all the furniture and replaced it with sharing tables (like cocktail tables, only larger). You can see them in the top photo. Pillar candles with pine green accents at the base was all that was needed as accent decor. When there are so many mirrors in a room such as this it's easy to play off them and get "double" the amount of decor!
The lighting was simple yet dramatic - combinations of lavender and light purple and amber and gold warmed up the space. I always turn to jewel tones during the holidays because they create a rich, inviting atmosphere without referencing any holiday tradition marked by specific colors.
Outside on the patio we simply added two patterns of snowflake gobos in the same lavender and gold tones, tying the interior and exterior together.
Thanks to Jahon for taking these photos!
THERE'S GONNA BE AN EVOLUTION!
So, about those intentions...I always set a New Year's intention. "Resolution" seems so hard and fast and I think that's why they always seem to "break." But an intention is more pliable, that can shift and evolve with circumstances. I can't think of anything more appropriate for this coming year and decade!
In 2010, the intention I've set for myself and AOO Events is reinvention. I'm not sure where the events industry is going (is anyone?) and where and what our clients will need from us in this next year and beyond. I'm sure we will transform to meet their needs yet the specifics are still developing. I do know one thing -- as everything continues to change, I'm ready for the evolution. Change brings opportunity!
As I finish my last blog of 2009, I want to thank you for reading. May your holidays be filled with warmth, love and joy and your New Year be inspirational. See you back here in 2010!
